Year 5
Welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 is an exciting and busy year, as we work very hard to ensure we have the skills we need to prepare us for our final year at Chorleywood Primary School. The teachers in Year 5 are Mrs Moore & Mrs Crasnier. We also have Mrs Archer, Mrs Coughlan and Mrs Kelly working in our classroom.
In our class, we work collaboratively to learn about a range of engaging and exciting topics. We develop our learning through interactive and explorative learning opportunities. Our humanities topics include Vikings and the Tudors. In science, we learn about space, forces and the properties of materials. We will be learning how to play the ukulele in music.
A Typical Day
We begin the day with maths fluency practice, reading, or work in our creativity books. This then leads into literacy, where we look at a selection of text genres as well as practise our spellings and grammar. We then begin our maths lessons, which help us to build confidence and skills in arithmetic, reasoning and problem solving. In the afternoons, we take part in a broad range of lessons including computing, science, PE, music, geography, history, RE, PSHE and Spanish. We enjoy a wide variety of sporting opportunities in Year 5, including sailing at Rickmansworth Aquadrome.
