Year 4
Year 4 will be taught by Mrs Allen. On a Tuesday afternoon, Mrs Omelia will be teaching.
Our teaching assistants are Miss Keenlyside, Mrs Marandola and Miss Kelly.
We have an exciting year planned, exploring a wide range of new topics throughout the curriculum. We will learn lots of new concepts and take part in practical activities both inside and outside the classroom. We will have the opportunity to participate in the Rickmansworth Dance Festival and, in the summer term, visit Hudnall Park for our residential trip. In addition, Year 4 will take part in a Tri Golf competition later in the Autumn term. This year we are fortunate to continue our Djembe drumming lessons, which are always great fun! We will continue to develop our independence and take on more responsibilities outside the classroom, doing a variety of jobs throughout the school.
In Year 4, we begin the day with either independent reading, an open-ended writing activity or a numeracy activity. These are aimed at developing our confidence and fluency in these areas. We begin our day with literacy, where we develop our writing through a book-based approach. After this, we have our numeracy lessons, which help us to build our arithmetic, reasoning and problem-solving skills. This year, we are focussing on improving our Times Table skills.
After break, we take part in a variety of subjects, including PE and humanities, as well as reading lessons in which we discuss a broad range of literature and develop our comprehension skills. In the afternoon, we develop our learning in science, computing, French, art, D&T, RE and PSHE. We will also be learning to play the Djembe drums in our weekly music lessons.
