Year 3
Class Teachers: Mrs Roberts & Mrs Omelia
Teaching Assistants: Miss Leete
Year 3 is an exciting place to acquire new skills as we develop our learning through interactive learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. We engage with many new concepts in maths and literacy and develop our learning across a broad and exciting curriculum. As we are now in Key Stage 2, we continue to develop our independence, using our initiative and the classroom resources to extend our learning. We aim to develop independence and resilience in our daily learning.
A Typical Day
We begin the day with an open-ended writing or numeracy activity, aimed at developing our confidence and fluency in these areas. Our first lesson of the day is Literacy, where we are using ‘The Literacy Curriculum’ to help us engage in a variety of writing activities. We will be using a wide range of texts and developing our grammar, spelling and creative writing through these lessons. This is followed by Maths where we undertake many challenges to help to build our arithmetic, reasoning and problem solving skills.
After break, we enjoy a variety of subjects, including PE and humanities, as well as reading lessons in which we discuss a broad range of literature and develop our comprehension skills.
The afternoons are an opportunity to develop our learning in science, computing, French, Art, D&T, RE and PSHE.
