Health and Medicine - Summer 2019
Dr Catherine Fawcett
Dr Fawcett spoke to the children about her role as a doctor - what inspired her to follow this career and what her job involves. There were plenty of questions asked by the children!
Ms Amanda Deighton - Radiotherapist
Ms Deighton came into school to tell the children all about her work as a Radiotherapist.
Mrs Sejal Joshi - Naturopathic Acupuncturist
Mrs Joshi came to speak to the children about her expertise in healthcare.
She wrote:
"I loved speaking to the children about what I do and giving them an insight into my world.
I’m a Naturopathic Acupuncturist. What does that mean? It means I’m an acupuncturist with extra skills!
As an acupuncturist I offer treatments to all kinds of people to help them with their general wellbeing issues. This includes everyday concerns like stress, headaches, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, fatigue and low immunity. I help people to make themselves as healthy as possible. I treat women, men and children. I can use acupuncture points with hands, fine needles and laser/e-pen! So I’m able to help treat nearly everyone!
So my naturopathic skills (natural) used are things like supplements, diet advice and cupping. All these things used together can really help people!
You need special training to do this job! I work at home around my family life.
I work along side other professionals in this industry."
