Reception

Hello and welcome to Reception!

The teachers in Reception are Mrs Lewis & Mrs Dean. We also have Mrs Hughes, Mrs Barber and Mrs Sharma working in our classroom. 

Mrs Omelia also covers our PPA time on a Wednesday morning. 

Reception is the first year at school and the children learn through seven areas of learning on the EYFS curriculum. These consist of: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Maths, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World.

In the Early Years, we cover different topics each term to link our key learning to every area. The children access a range of varied adult led activities as well as lots of opportunities to take the lead on where the topic may take their learning. The majority of time spent in the Early Years is during Child Initiated Learning in an exciting and engaging learning environment.

The children are encouraged to explore all areas independently as well as participate in short whole class teaching sessions. We provide the children with learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom which enables them to have a well-rounded learning experience every day.
