Year 4
Welcome to Year 4
Year 4 is taught by Mrs Allen. On a Thursday morning, Mrs Omelia will be teaching.
Our teaching assistants are Mrs Coughlan, Ms Kelly, Ms Udosen and Mrs Sharma.
We have an exciting year planned, exploring a wide range of topics throughout the curriculum. We will learn lots of new concepts and take part in practical activities both inside and outside the classroom. We will have the opportunity to participate in the Rickmansworth Dance Festival and, in the summer term, go on a residential trip. In addition, Year 4 will take part in a Tri Golf competition in the Autumn term. We will continue to develop our independence and take on more responsibilities outside the classroom, doing a variety of jobs throughout the school.
A typical day in Year 4 begins with either independent reading, an open-ended writing activity or a numeracy activity. These are aimed at developing our confidence and fluency in these areas. We then move onto English, where we develop our writing, reading, spelling and grammar through a book-based approach . Our maths lessons help us to build our arithmetic, reasoning and problem-solving skills. This year, we are focussing on improving our Times Table skills. In the afternoons, we take part in a broad range of lessons including computing, science, PE, music, geography, history, RE, PSHE and French. We will also be learning to play the Djembe drums every second half term in our music lessons. In the summer term, Year 4 will attend weekly swimming lessons.
