Welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 is an exciting but also very busy year, as we work very hard to ensure we have the skills we need to prepare us for our final year at Chorleywood Primary School.  We continue to develop our reading, writing and numeracy in our weekly boost sessions on a Wednesday.
In our class, we work collaboratively together to learn about a range of engaging and exciting topics. We develop our learning through interactive and explorative learning opportunities. Our topics include volcanoes, earthquakes, vikings and learning how to play the ukulele.
On Mondays and Tuesdays we are taught by Mrs Omelia.
Typical Day
We begin the day with an open-ended literacy activity, which is related to our grammar focus that week.  This then leads into Literacy where we look at a selection of texts and follow the "Talk for Writing" approach.  We then begin our numeracy lessons, which help us to build our confidence and skills in arithmetic and problem solving.
After break, we develop our reading comprehension and spelling skills.
In the afternoon we take part in computing, science, PE, music, geography, RE, PSHE and history.
